A Photo Contest At Fuel My Blog

Fuel My Blog is having a photo contest, and this is my submission. We were leaving Caracas on the way to the airport and I looked out my window and saw this! Once the shock subsidesd enough, I was able to put the window down, grab my camera, and snap these photos as we drove. The first one is my submission to the photo contest.

Wow! This certainly seems to be a great Community. Everyone's hardly a stone-throw distance from one another.

Does it ever rain out there? How the situation controlled over the slopes? Ain't it dangerous.

You left Caracus for ....?

Allan.

Venezuela gets a rainy season, where they get lots and lots of rain. In 1999 there were floods and landslides where many people were lost. Stone-throw? Ha! These homes are literally stacked on top of each other sometimes.

I suppose it's quite dangerous. They don't have running water or trash disposal, so they just throw all their waste down the hill.

There's a good incentive to live on top of the hill, if one ever existed!

Hello there, nice pictures!

Venezuela? Ah caray, hola hola, es raro encontrar bloggers hispanos que hagan sus post en ingles.

Buenas fotos, cuidate!

Thank you Ian, your photo of the fire is still burned into my brain.

In reality, A, I'm not a Spanish speaker, at least not very well. I lived in Venezuela for a while, but I learned enough to get by at the grocery store and get home alive. (as long as there was no detour) This picture was taken my first time in Caracas - the very first minute I ever saw the ranchos. It was shocking - so interesting and so sad at the same time.

I REALLY love this photo--reminds me of Egypt. It caught my eye right away on the contest site.

Great photo. The colors are amazing. I can't imagine living that close to my neighbors. On top of each other literally.

A very nice photo. :)

Looks like a painting coming to life. Some will consider it as work of art yet it is a reality. Only, we sometimes forget such reality exists.

Nice colors in the photo..Many islands in Greece have similar housing structures, but they are all painted in white and blue. This one has a wider variety of colors.
